Northeastern indie-jam-dance-tronica clan Jimkata is celebrating the release of its most recent EP Feel In Light in between the tour dates on an incessant schedule. And they will continue their musical epic by embarking on a journey from their homeland into the depths of the southeaset for an exlusive Florida tour with Stokeswood sponsored by none other than The Untz! We have already given this outfit a rave review when they released the EP's single, "Beat The Curse," so needless to say; we are completely stoked about the full release.
Their retro electronic energy is less on the jam and heavy on the dance, creating a mash-up of sound that will move the feet of hipsters, ravers, and live performance music fans. Feel In Light pushes a thickly layered wall of sound sealed with a mortar of echoing reverb and electro punch synth. Of course they have also made sure to include your favorite kitschy but oh, so enjoyable drum machine handclaps and that iconic, descending New Wave tom-tom line. Yeah that one, you know what I'm talkin' about.
When you dive deeper beyond their catchy pop-vocal melodies, you will find much more poetic depth to their lyrics than your average mainstream tune. Their message addresses the brighter side of meloncholy existentialism, encouraging full immersion into a moment of musical bliss, and coming out on the other side anew and refreshed.
Okay, so I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that you are a fan of music, a "scenester," a show junkie. I mean, what other kind of person would be a fan of this site, am I right? We're there with you. In my opinion, the exact ideas and feelings that this EP addresses are the pinnacle of a live music exsperience. Be here. Be now. Let go. Dance.
