Ives NashvilleIves has been pretty busy, lately.

The Nashville-based rising star in the subsonic community recently contributed a big ol' banger to the ShadowTrix compilation, Shadows Volume 2—a collab with another breakout star, LUZCID. Then just yesterday he knocked out a solo tune for the Flux compilation for ThazDope Records, a 43-track behemoth featuring a ton of our favorite bass up-and-comers.

We teased it when “Oracle” dropped, but today, we and debuting a taste of the brand new Ives EP, Illusion. Sporting 7 originals and 3 remixes from the likes of Mindest, Metapod, and ChopsJunkie (who is playing The Untz Festival in June on the aforementioned ShadowTrix stage), so it's a big thick package from our friends over at Street Ritual hitting the internets on March 7.

Today, we premiere the lead track, “Mind Reader.” A stone-cold killer, this hulking tune is as heavy-hitting as it is experimental. Stuttering rhythms, surprise breakdowns, and a powerful punch make this a must-have for any left-field DJ's who are hungry for the latest dubs. Good thing this one's all yours as a free download in advance of the release. You lucky dogs.

Catch Ives in a couple weeks as The Two Lost Boys, Esseks and Perkulat0r, make their way to The End in Nashville, Tennessee on March 16. They'll be joined by another festival act, Secret Recipe, unless of course they get lost on the way to the venue—and now I'm going to be depressed for the next couple of hours because I wasn't strong enough to prevent myself from making that shitty joke. Cheer yourself up by hitting repeat on this tune a couple times.
