Put your hands up for Detroit! On 12/21/12, the day that turned out to be anything but ordinary, GRiZ, the ongoing, on-growing glitch-funk pioneer returned to his beloved hometown Detroit, MI for another mind blowing performance that left the audience in absolute musical ecstasy. The energy in the room was nothing but love, bliss, and excitement. For weeks, attendees from all over Michigan and beyond had been waiting for this night, to not only celebrate the return of their beloved hometown rising star, but also to celebrate the fact that so many passionate and hardworking souls had come together to put on an astounding show.

GRiZ’s set showcased newer works like Big Gigantic collaboration “Power,” and hits from the recently released Mad Liberation. The front row was beaming with excitement, and there was not one moment that passed when hands weren’t high up in the air.

“I would say that in this past year that I’ve just performed. . . my favorite two headlining cities that I played for were my Boulder [Colorado] Fox headline and tonight at St. Andrew’s” says Grant Kwiecinski. “Yeah it was cool, man, because I feel like people from Detroit are really loyal and faithful and I mean, I would say that a good quarter of that audience I’ve had some small conversation with at some point, so it’s cool to enjoy music with them.”

Several other talented rising stars such as glitch-hop pioneer and musical genius Freddy Todd, eclectic on-the-rise youngster MuzzY, and the native creative musician Jaws That Bite all shared time and space on the stage, making the show unforgettable. The amount of talent and energy that filled the room that Friday proved there is solid reason to “put your hands up for Detroit.”
