In a heralded return to his old stomping grounds at Skint Records, producer FreQ Nasty
releases "Not Givin In," a moombahcore masterpiece with a message. Featuring the spitfire delivery of Tippa Irie, the track smashes dancehall, moombah, and enormous bass blasts. Way uptempo, this banger is destined to crush crowds at the apex of sets. Solar Lion
lends some additional production to the tune, and remixes are out now from around the world, including South African Greg Reve, and French trap stylist Flore, a recent signee to Mad Decent. Her take in particular stands out as a real party starter.
Fans of Jimmy Cliff will enjoy the killer artwork, as well. "Not Givin In" does have a sort of "Harder They Come" mentality about not taking shit from the man, and the little guy winning out. Not to get all political--though that's what the music of the islands is all about--but in this day and age of the 1% and the 47% and all the percentages you can dream up, the people are ready to stand up and be counted. Dance music can be fun, and we're all here to party, but in this time of war, poverty, and strife, perhaps it's wise to have a little message in our mayhem.
