By: Anand HarshThe last time we ran into Canadian producer Dabin, we were examing the Dead CAT Bounce remix of "Awakening," a part of his remix EP which dropped on Kannibalen Records. This time around, it's Dabin Lee remixing Dead Battery's "Catch Me If You Can," due out as part of a remix set later this month on High Chai Recordings. Lee's take on this cut is extraordinary. Showing a flair for the dramatic, the melodic swells and chopped vocals dance and glitter off of steady electro grooves and complex rhythmic variations. A clear student of Daft Punk and Fred Falke, Dabin understands the French dedication to tight composition and infectious booty-shakin'. And as a part-time resident of Montreal, who better to distill the French aesthetic and repurpose it? The Québécois have been doing it for years!
