James Ristvedt is rolling out some new sounds--careful those of you goofing off instead of finishing off those TPS Reports, this one is 'NSFW.' For a man more closely associated with the world of glitch-hop, Alpha Data's new track is clearly a stab at the high-class world of electro house. Trading in his trademark bounce for a fiercer, pulsing sound, AD is making a statement about where he wants to take his brand. He's got himself some solid backers, too. Disco Biscuits and Conspirator bassist Marc Brownstein has tagged him as the "next generation" of producers, and he's hitting the road with BoomBox for most of this month, hitting dates across the Midwest with acts like Loyal Divide and Freekbot before kicking off festival season with stops at Starscape and Camp Bisco, among others. That's not to say that Alpha Data is done with glitch-hop, he's just giving you a new look. And we like it!
