Hailing from a hot bed of talent in the San Francisco Bay Area, he comes from a long lineage of versatile DJs who have propelled the art form of balancing banging house beats and lacing technically adept DJ sets to the world stage. Matt Haze is a riddle, wrapped in an enigma, covered in stylish facial hair. One of the most forward-
thinking DJs emerging from the San Francisco scene, Haze is a treasure trove of musical versatility. Rubbing the decks with a marinade of cutting edge beats and old school vibes, Haze is difficult to classify, but impossible to resist. He is best known for his work with SF’s Slayers Club collective, dropping his crazily eclectic kitchen sink sets wherever the spirit carries him and the bassbins follow.

Neon Neo, aka Paul Hemming, is a creative cyclone. New ideas, artistic visions and music insights spring forth from his otherwise centered body. The Seattle-born and San Francisco-based nightclub and record label owner is also a DJ, filmmaker and dance music producer. In 2007 he launched the Zen Compound, home to the Temple nightclub and Prana restaurant, an ambitious creative site grounded in his love for music, art, Eastern aesthetics and bringing the world together. Like similar large-scale Bay Area music projects (think Burning Man, and the City’s many festivals and street fairs), Temple nightclub and Temple Music Group (TMG) represent Hemming’s integrated artistic vision. Launching both the Temple club and label simultaneously illustrates that Hemming has big plans for both his own artistic output and TMG’s growing roster. Hemming’s many music productions span multiple genres from chunky disco grooves through richly melodic house music, solid breakbeat tunes and organic downtempo tracks. A lifelong music connoisseur, Hemming’s years of club, A&R and dance music retail experience is reflected in tracks that are cinematic, passionate and layered with colorful instrumentation. These features are also expressed in Hemming’s Temple nightclub, a multi-level, ecologically sustainable dance venue.

DJ Imani, aka Nebakaneza, is the music lover’s DJ, and a true collector of many genres of music. When he was old enough to get a job, he started working at various record stores, but most of his earnings went right back into buying music. He studied radio broadcasting and became the music director for his college radio station, and won an award for broadcaster of the year. By the mid 2000’s, he started DJing in bars and clubs and working at Clear Channel radio, with a small internship at Om Records. He eventually landed his own late night electronica show on the commercial radio station KKSF, acting as both music director and host. He started a weekly event in San Francisco with his business partner Johnny 5, called Ritual, which lasted for 3 years and at one point was the largest reoccurring Dubstep event on the West Coast. They eventually expanded into Los Angeles and other clubs in San Francisco. Later, he became a music director for another commercial radio station, Live 105, for their late night dubstep program, Wobble Wednesday. Recently he was on the cover of the SF Bay Guardian newspaper and won their annual Goldie award. He is still collecting music on a large scale, throwing successful events, and causing a ruckus with no sign of slowing down.
