Since his debut release in 2008, Phaeleh aka Matt Preston has developed an inimitable style of cinematic electronic music. His genre-busting output morphing between the shifting tempos and timbres of dubstep, garage, electronica and house music. Phaeleh’s last two long play releases on Afterglo; ‘Fallen Light’ and ‘The Cold In You’ have cemented his position as one of the most exciting new producers to emerge from the fertile soil of the UK Bass scene. As a Bristol native Phaeleh’s downbeat and heartfelt sound honours the tradition of the Bristolian fore fathers Massive Attack, Smith & Mighty and Portishead, with a fresh outlook and penchant for sub sonics.
Augustus Ghost is the product of a sleep paralysis, in which Hannah Cartwright woke to see a translucent red-headed woman sitting on the end of her bed, staring at her intently. Having only moved to the UK recently, after growing up in the Middle East, she became fascinated by the depth and darkness of English history and folklore. The name Augustus Ghost has been used for a variety of her projects, ranging from folk to electronic collaborations, but always carries with it her haunting lyrics and vocals. She joined forces with Throwing Snow to create the duo, Snow Ghosts - a collaboration that has brought two very different styles of music together, through a shared love of the dark and esoteric.
