The inaugural Riverwest Music Festival will take place over the Independence Day weekend in Chicago.
Riverwest is the latest in a brace of electronic music festivals to hit Chicago lately, following in the footsteps of Wavefront (which usually happens the same weekend) and North Coast. This one has more of an emphasis on underground dance music—or "forward thinking," as they describe it—than its brethren, however, with a lineup focusing mostly on house and techno.
Guy Gerber, Damian Lazarus, Art Department, Jamie Jones and Deep Dish are among the big-ticket names booked so far. Marcel Dettmann and Marcel Fengler will bring the Berlin techno vibes, and Ibiza favourites Ten Walls, DJ Tennis and Dixon will transport some White Isle Magic. Other highlights include Bob Moses, DJ Koze, a back-to-back set from Jimmy Edgar and Danny Daze, and group performances from the Visionquest and Apollonia crews.
The festival will take place along Elston the banks of the Chicago river, on a one-mile estate between Division and Chicago Avenue.
