Jay Lumen is one of the most exciting DJs and producers to emerge within the new generation of electronic dance music artists over the last number of years. The Hungarian’s musical journey has seen him come a long way, from classical violin training at 8 years old to now being one of the world’s leading driving forces behind the tech house and techno movements.
In a world where chart success and mass appeal usually revolves around music tailored for the mainstream, Jay is one of the very few artists around today who has managed to find huge success with a truely underground sound. Always in demand, Jay releases his music on hugely respected and prolific international labels like Ministry of Sound, Toolroom, 100% Pure, Tronic, Great Stuff, Drumcode etc. Not only a commercial success on the sales charts, Jay’s music is also held in massive regard by his fellow professionals and icons as continuous appearances on worldwide DJs Charts (e.g. Resident Advisor, Beatport DJ Charts etc) prove.
The success of Jay’s productions and DJ skills speak for themselves. Since just 2010, Jay has amassed over 30 Beatport Top 10 hits and has climbed into Resident Advisor’s Top 20 “All Time Charted Artists” list. In 2010 Jay was the only artist to have 6 productions in the Beatport charts all at the same time and he repeated the very same feat in 2011! Notwithstanding this success, 2012 was Jay’s biggest year to date: and saw Jay firmly establish himself as one of the world’s biggest tech house and techno names. He notched up 10 x Beatport Top 10 tracks including huge releases such as “Carpe Diem”, “Get Ready” and of course “The Drummer” which was officially named the 6th biggest selling Techno track on Beatport in 2012!. Jay also peaked at #20 in Resident Advisor’s “All Time Charted Artists” list and was also nominated for “Best Foreign DJ of 2012″ in the prestigious Vicious Music Awards alongside artists such as Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Marco Carola, Loco Dice, Sasha, Fatboy Slim, Seth Troxler, Joris Voorn and Chris Liebing. On top of all of this, Jay’s 2012 touring schedule was so busy that he toured for 49 of the 52 weeks in 2012 as he played all over the globe at such prestigious venues/events as Privilege (Ibiza), El Row (Barcelona), Discodome (Moscow), Ellui (Seoul), Balaton Sound Festival (Hungary), Space Ibiza Festival (Toronto).
His DJ sets showcase his signature sound which ranges from house to techno, but always maintains the Jay Lumen style pulsating and dynamic grooves. Full of energy and full of belief in his own sound, it is easy to see how Jay has struck the unique balance of bringing the underground to a large scale audience.
