In response to the events of July 20th in Aurora, Colorado, some of the biggest names in Dance Music are joining forces to produce a multi-faceted fundraiser for the Aurora victims. Driven by the desire to help, Adam Walder (AKA Funkagenda) pulled together some of the biggest names in the industry for a day long benefit including a free show at the Denver Skatepark and a multi-headliner concert at Beta Nightclub on Sunday, September 9, 2012.
The events begin with a free show at the Denver Skatepark from 2-6PM, featuring MC Flipside and Lazy Rich, along with pro skater appearances. There will be a live auction, local food trucks and various live performers including stilters and dancers. This will be a fun community event open to all ages.
That evening, Beta Nightclub will be hosting an all-star line-up of some of the biggest names in dance music today from 8PM-2AM. The artists currently confirmed are: Funkagenda, Chris Lake and Gita, Sydney Blu, MC Flipside, Hot Mouth and more, including local DJs. With the purchase of a VIP ticket, 21+ guests can meet with the artists and enjoy complimentary cocktails and beer from 8-10PM. All the DJs and performers are donating their time and efforts. The door proceeds along with a portion of the evening’s liquor sales will be donated.
There will also be items listed on eBay. 100% of the sale of these items also will be donated. Some items include autographed headphones and mixers from the likes of Tiësto and Porter Robinson, custom designed skateboards, VIP concert tickets and more. The auction will end at the close of Monday, September 10.
DJ/producer Funkagenda, Faux Entertainment and Beta Nightclub are seeking to help raise financial and community support for those affected by this tragedy, and to also help raise awareness on dangers of the availability of firearms and encourage proper firearm safety education. Sponsors supporting the event include: Denver Police Department, Absolut, Coors, Pioneer, Native Instruments, V-Moda, HOT 107.1, Westword, Noodles & Company and Hotel Teatro.
Funkagenda is a Grammy nominated producer who over the years has used his music training to help (amongst others) mentally handicapped children via music therapy programs and young adults with severe drug addictions, living on the streets of his UK hometown. Faux Entertainment is a management company representing some of the premier artists in the electronic music industry and has strong community involvement in California. Beta Nightclub is one of the top nightclubs in the country that has been sponsoring a multitude of charity events for years under the name “Beta Love Project”. We feel that this was a natural match of forces that can make a difference to those affected by this tragic event.
