Paper Diamond: Time Flies feat. Russ P
Date: Jul 12, 2012 (Thursday)By: Jordan Calvano
Paper Diamond (Alex Botwin) has been on a roll these last few years while unloading a finely honed, mesmerizing style of bass music that encompasses a slew of different genres. He has released music through Pretty Lights Music and Diplo’s outfit Mad Decent, and is now running his own label (Elm & Oak); let the takeover begin, because this Colorado producer is showing no signs of slowing down.
On his most recent burst of creativity, we witness Botwin bust out a head banging original track co-released via Elm & Oak and Jay-Z’s site Life and Times, and it is undoubtedly one of his most ambitious and well rounded songs to date. “Time Flies” is a glitched out, hip-hop influenced track that features classic Paper Diamond synth work layered under tenacious vocal progressions from Russ P, which combine to create an addicting tune that will have listeners repeating the line “Don’t worry about the ground if the top is where were gunna be.” Drum hits strike in between light dub womps, which provide a perfect middle ground for the tracks energetic aura that fluctuates throughout.
Paper Diamond continues his streak of consistently impressive tracks, and does it with a mind-warping anthem that will have any audience lucky enough to see this song live going all out.
